The Romanian team did well in the main stage of the Europa League, finishing 11th and only one point behind the top eight. Lyon performances under the leadership of Paulo Fonseschi started ambiguously. On the one hand, they won three victories - over Reims, Montpellier and Brest, but on the other hand, they lost to both status rivals - Marseille and PSG.
